My objectives

The objectives of this web site and blog is to share my personal experiences of walking the National Trails of England, Scotland and Wales. I have been inspired by others, who write so well, and take such great photographs, to contribute to the community of trail walkers, wherever they may be. I am inspired by the US trails and I hope to inspire our US colleagues to experience also what Britain has to offer.

More recently I have started cycle touring and plan to expand this site into a walking/cycling/adventure resource and blog.

  1. Hi Martyn. Just a wee note to let you know we (The Irregulars LDWA) all completed the Southern Upland Way on Mon 16th May, managing to find all the Kists bar the first one. You were right about Francis at Newark Farm Sanquair, she was an absolute treasure, beds comfortable and a breakfast to die for. We cant believe how fortunate we were with the weather, shorts & T-shirts every day. It was nice meeting up with you at/near Dalry and we all hope you finished your North/South SUW jaunt in fine fettle.
    Best wishes.

    • Hi Nick,
The weather has been fantastic, we were so lucky. No midges too! Surprised you missed the 1st 13th and collected the others, mind you I missed the 1st 7 East to West! I completed the SUW in 10 days, and progressed on to the WHW and GGW arriving in Inverness 8 days later, wild camping on almost all nights. I met another LDWA group on the sleeper home and must connect with my local group. Congratulations to the Irregulars team. I am sure you are planning your next adventure.
